Designed to perform their heating and cooling tasks, the T6861 digital thermostats are intended for use in fan coil systems with 3-speed fans and valves.

The fan can be set to operate at three speeds, either manually or automatically. For instance, the fan is switched to the desired speed in Manual mode through control output Gh, Gm, Gl.

However, in automated mode, the fan frequency is calculated by the temperature difference between the room and the setpoint. When the room temperature reaches the set point, the valve will close, and the fan will close as well.

Like most thermostats, the T8681 measures the temperature of the room using an embedded sensor or an external temperature sensor, and then keeps the setpoint by sending out on/off valve control commands.

Even if the temperature is close to the set point, the CPH function may allow the thermostat to open the valve numerous times per hour to achieve more accurate temperature control.

The defaulted heating and cooling values are 4 and 3, respectively, and can be modified during the Installer Set-Up procedure.

Furthermore, the backlight is activated by pressing any key. Backlights will turn off after 8 seconds if no key is pressed. The backlight will fade 60 seconds after the last button stroke in Installer Set-up and Installer Test mode.

This thermostat, like many others, features a freezing protection feature. Freezing protection can be turned off or turned on.

When the thermostat is in OFF mode and the attained temperature is below 6 degrees Celsius in freezing protection mode, the thermostat will switch to heat mode until the temperature increases to 8 degrees Celsius or the thermostat is turned on.

Moreover, the setpoint can be modified in comfort mode by pushing the up and down buttons. Cool only, heat only, and manual heat/cool changeover are examples of different applications.
