REFRIGERANT GAS R-404 HONEYWELL

REFRIGERANT GAS R-404 HONEYWELL

AED 514.00

Honeywell’s Genetron R-404A is a high-performance, non-ozone-depleting HFC refrigerant blend composed of HFC-125, HFC-143a, and HFC-134a. It is tailored for low- to medium-temperature commercial refrigeration applications and is often used as a replacement or retrofit option for older systems originally using R-502, with the caveat that it requires POE lubricants and system modifications to maintain reliability

Description

In terms of safety, R-404A is non-flammable and low in toxicity (ASHRAE A1 classification), but any leak or fire exposure must be handled carefully due to asphyxiation risk and potential hazardous decomposition products. From an environmental perspective, it boasts zero ozone depletion potential (ODP = 0) but has a high global warming potential (GWP ≈ 3,900), making it less favorable under stricter environmental regulations and leading to its gradual phase-down in many regions.

  • R-404A is especially used in low- and medium-temperature refrigeration systems. Some of its common uses include:

    • Supermarket freezer and display cases

    • Cold storage rooms

    • Refrigerated transport and trucks

    • Ice machines, show cases, vending machines, and similar commercial refrigeration equipment

Because its thermodynamic behavior is relatively close to that of older refrigerants like R-502 (which it often replaces), many systems originally designed for R-502 can be retrofitted to R-404A (with appropriate modifications)  However, care must be taken regarding lubricants and other compatibility issues (see below).
